What's studied
In preclinical work by Sikiric and colleagues, BPC-157 is linked to faster healing of various tissues — in particular, experimentally transected Achilles tendon in rats. The described mechanisms include modulation of angiogenesis (experiments show increased expression of VEGF and the VEGFR2 receptor) and effects on NO signaling, and — in more recent work — a dose-dependent increase in growth hormone receptor expression in tendon fibroblasts.
Limits of the data
Nearly all of the available data comes from animal models and cell cultures; controlled human trials are extremely scarce in the open literature. A 2025 systematic review of BPC-157 use in orthopedic sports medicine notes the potential of the field but explicitly points to the lack of clinical data in humans.
